Entry 1: Romania

News from Romaniei

Hello All,

Its been a whirlwind week, traveling here to Romania, settling in, and participating as a groomsman for the first time. So here it goes...

Wednesday::
I Left Panama City around 6 am in the morning. Flew to Memphis and then on to Newark for a 7 hour layover. In Newark, I got a little board so I decided that it would be fun to take the NJ Transit train to Midtown Manhattan. Well, come to find out, I had to be back at the airport in only two hours. So I took the 30 minute train to Madison Square garden and basically ran over to 5th Ave and the Empire State Building, bought some souvenirs and headed back to the airport. But hey, I got to see NYC again. After I got checked in for my flight to Paris, I had to wait another 4 hours. That afternoon we experienced some really heavy thunderstorms, the kind that we would really like to have in FL. Some flights were being canceled so I just sat in the corner of the terminal watching a movie and biting my nails, hoping that my flight would not be canceled. I was beginning to think that Brent's luck( or lack thereof), had rubbed off on me! They did board us, but we had to wait on the tarmac for about 2 hours. Which meant trouble for my connection in Paris. On the flight to Paris, I met a French Student from Bordeaux who had been visiting the States for the first time. It was interesting to get to talk to him and to see his perceptive on the US. He said that things were so much bigger and moved a lot faster.

Thursday::
After arriving in Paris, I proceeded to the friendly agent (insert sarcastic tone) at the Air France counter to reschedule my flight. I argued with her about trying to get on an earlier flight, via standby, but apparently Europeans don't understand that term. I ended up waiting for about another 7 hours in the Paris airport. That wait cemented by utter hatred and distain for that airport. After I arrive in the terminal building, I was greeted by a mass of people walking toward one end of the terminal, Of course I needed to be on the other end. As it turns out, they had to shut down the other half of the terminal in order to blow up a bag that someone had left. I have not see so much chaos since football season and trying to get in the student section for one of the FSU games. At least most of these people were sober. So after that episode, i boarded my flight to Bucharest, FINALLY! I was so glad to get on that plane, usually i wait to board until the line dies down, this time, I was at the front of the boarding line. I finally got to bucharest around 9 PM just as the sun was setting over the Carpathian mountains, it was a beautiful flight. Upon my arrival, George picked me up and we headed into town on the 783 (bus). As we drove into Bucharest, so many memories flooded back. I felt so good to be back in my Romanian home! The weather was beautiful and we had a great trip back to the apartment. Upon my arrival I was greeted by my Romania mother, Mama Lydia. It was wonderful, like coming home. The house was a buzz with wedding preparations and it was just the beginning.

Stay tuned for further episodes...

Is any one there?

Alright, I have been really bad about posting. Here is the bullet point list of Bryce's life.
  • Moved to campus, now living at CCF (Christian Campus Fellowship) as a resident
  • Going to Romania and Italy from July 11-Aug 05!
  • I am a groomsman for my friend George's (from Romania) sister's wedding, in Romania!
  • Still working at Aegis Computer Services
  • Only 27 hours left till I graduate college, 2 semesters!
  • Having a blast being near campus, meeting, and reaching out to the new freshman, the fall is going to be awesome
Look for more updates as I go to romania!

God Bless,
Bryce

Pray for Rain...

If you all have been paying attention to the news you will know that we have a lot of fires burning here in Florida. This morning I woke up to go to class and  though it was fog outside...but really it was thick smoke from the fires burning in south/central Florida. We are -12 inches below the average rain fall to date. Now would be a good time for a tropical storm. The state of irony...either we have bad hurricanes or raging fires. Off to class!

Thoughts

I have been out of school since last wednesday and this week has been so  relaxing, yet challenging at the same time. It is so hard to believe that I only have one year left here at FSU. Life goes by so fast. Yet, with God it is so much more enjoyable.

[Oh happy day, happy day
You washed my sin away
Oh happy day, happy day
I'll never be the same
Forever I am changed]
